David N. Fogg, founding member of Fogg & Powers LLC, is a registered patent attorney practicing in the areas of telecommunications, computer hardware and software, semiconductor processing and electronic circuits. David's practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, opinions, client counseling and litigation support. David was named a Super Lawyer in the Minnesota legal community by Minnesota Law and Politics magazine in 2002, 2003, and 2004. David was also identified as among the top 40 IP attorneys in Minnesota in 2003.

In April 2000, David launched the Twin Cities-based firm of Fogg Slifer and Polglaze (FSP). During his time with FSP, David developed a client base that fueled the growth of FSP from the three original attorneys to twelve attorneys and a ten-person support staff. Prior to his experience with FSP, David was an officer with the Minneapolis- based firm of Schwegman, Lundberg, Woessner & Kluth.

Previously, David practiced as in-house patent counsel for AT&T Bell Laboratories in Whippany, New Jersey supporting the wireless telecommunications portion of AT&T Network Systems Division (now part of Lucent Technologies). He also practiced with the intellectual property section of Houston-based Baker & Botts, L.L.P., where his practice was divided between intellectual property litigation and patent prosecution.

Jon M. Powers is a registered patent attorney practicing in the areas of electrical and electronic technologies, including telecommunications devices and systems and computer software and hardware. Recently, Jon was named a Rising Star in the Minnesota legal community by Minnesota Law and Politics magazine.

Prior to joining Fogg & Powers, Jon was a Senior Intellectual Property Attorney at ADC Telecommunications, Inc., a telecommunications company based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. While at ADC, Jon focused on intellectual property portfolio management, intellectual property litigation, and agreements relating to intellectual property including licensing and development agreements. Also, Jon handled the intellectual property aspects of several large acquisitions and divestitures while at ADC.

Prior to working at ADC, Jon practiced in the Minneapolis office of Fish and Richardson, PC, and the Intellectual Property Group at Faegre and Benson.

Jon earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota and his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School. J. Patrick Kendrick is a registered patent attorney practicing in the areas of electrical and electronic technologies.

Prior to joining Fogg & Powers, Patrick served as a principal engineer for the Nuclear Division of Florida Power and Light Company. Stationed at the St. Lucie nuclear power plant, Patrick's primary responsibilities included reactor control systems and process instrumentation, radiation monitoring systems, high voltage power distribution systems, and the emergency diesel generators. He is registered as professional engineer in the State of Florida (currently inactive status). While in law school, he served as a law clerk for the U.S. Department of Energy, Bonneville Power Administration, in Portland , Oregon .

Patrick earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of South Florida , concentrating in control systems. He also holds a master of business administration from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Patrick received his law degree, cum laude, from the Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland , Oregon . While at Lewis & Clark, Patrick was a Research Editor and Recent Developments Editor for the Journal of Small and Emerging Business Law (now the Lewis & Clark Law Review) and was twice published by the journal. He was a semi-finalist in the intraschool appellate advocacy competition and selected to represent the school at the northwest regional appellate advocacy competition. Jay A. Wahlquist is a registered patent attorney practicing in the areas of electrical and electronic technologies.

While in law school, Jay served as a law clerk with Utah Legal Services in Provo, Utah. At Utah Legal Services, he performed legal research regarding welfare benefits and family law, prepared various court briefs, and translated legal documents into Spanish. Jay was also a law clerk with Fogg & Powers where he prepared patent applications and appeal briefs regarding electrical and electronic technologies. Jay has been a registered patent agent since 2004.

Jay earned his bachelor's degree in Physics from Brigham Young University while obtaining a minor in Mathematics and Spanish. He received his law degree from Brigham Young University J. Gregory M. Taylor is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in patent application preparation, U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, trademarks, client counseling, and opinions related to patentability, infringement, and validity. Greg has practiced in a variety of technology areas, including semiconductor and micromachine devices and fabrication techniques, optical thin films and interference pigments, telecommunication components, optical and laser devices, aerospace control systems, medical devices, pharmaceutical compositions and delivery systems, fuels technology and air pollution control techniques, automotive safety devices, industrial chemicals, and specialty chemicals.

Prior to joining Fogg & Powers, Greg practiced with the Salt Lake City intellectual property law firm Workman Nydegger where he was a shareholder. While at Workman Nydegger, he focused on client counseling, opinion work related to various technologies, and patent application preparation and prosecution for a variety of clients. Prior to that, Greg practiced with the Minneapolis-based intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould.

Greg earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Brigham Young University. He earned his law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where he was a member of the Board of Advocates (Moot Court). Sarah M. Koniewicz is a registered patent attorney specializing in the areas of electrical and electronic technologies, telecommunications, semiconductor devices and fabrication, computer hardware and software, and mechanical technologies.

During law school at Wake Forest University School of Law, Sarah clerked in the North Carolina branch of the Houston intellectual property law firm Patterson & Sheridan.  There she practiced patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of computer hardware and software, database applications, and semiconductor devices and fabrication.  Additionally, Sarah served as a Summer Associate at the Washington D.C. intellectual property law firm Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein, and Fox practicing patent preparation and prosecution in the additional area of nanotechnology, as well as conducting research for patent litigation.  Also during law school, she served as a research assistant for Professor Suzanne Reynolds in the area of child custody mediation.

Prior to law school, Sarah earned her bachelor's degree in Mathematical Physics from Binghamton University, magna cum luade, with a concentration in Geophysics, and a concentration in Electrical Engineering through coursework at Binghamton's Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science.  While at Binghamton, Sarah served as a research assistant studying the giant magnetoresistance effect and applications of spintronics.

Prior to joining Fogg & Powers, Wade was an Associate Attorney and Summer Associate in the Minneapolis office of Merchant & Gould, P.C.  While at Merchant & Gould, Wade’s practice involved patent procurement, client counseling and litigation support.

Wade received his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.  During law school, Wade was a member of the University of Minnesota International Moot Court and a Student Attorney and Director at the University of Minnesota Consumer Protection Clinic.  While pursuing his legal education, he externed with the Honorable J. Richard J. Moura is a registered patent attorney and has practiced in the electrical, electronic and electromechanical technology areas, including mobile communications, satellite communications, computer hardware and software, semiconductor processing and circuits, optics, cable television, and signal encryption and decryption. Richard’s practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, legal opinions, and litigation support.

Prior to joining Fogg & Powers, Richard practiced law with the Dallas-based intellectual property groups of Baker Botts L.L.P. and Jenkens and Gilchrist, P.C. Prior to that, Richard was an intellectual property litigator with Banner, Birch, McKie and Beckett, a Washington, D.C. intellectual property boutique. Before he became an attorney, Richard was a supervisory electronics engineer with a U.S. government agency for 14 years, with responsibility for investigations of Department of Defense space communication programs.

Richard earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, with distinction, from the University of Rhode Island. He earned his law degree from the Washington College of Law at American University in Washington, D.C. Richard is admitted to practice law in Texas, Washington, D.C. and Rhode Island. He is not licensed to practice law in Minnesota.
