Paul Bernkopf

Paul Bernkopf is a registered patent attorney and Of Counsel with Fogg & Powers LLC practicing in the areas of telecommunications, power management, circuit design, semiconductors, and software.  Prior to joining Fogg & Powers, Paul was Chief Intellectual Property Counsel of Intersil Corporation, an original designer of 802.11 wireless LAN chip-sets and a leader in power management technology.  While at Intersil, Paul cost effectively reinvigorated the patent portfolio, successfully defended against patent assertions, and monetized the company's intellectual property through litigation, licensing and sales.  He leveraged the company's patent portfolio to permit Intersil to expand into new markets and generate significant revenue.  Paul has drafted and negotiated scores of license, joint development, service, sales, and merger and acquisition agreements.

Prior to entering the legal profession, Paul practiced as an electrical engineer lastly at Raytheon Corporation's Research Division where he designed microwave and millimeter-wave compound semiconductor integrated circuits.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, and his law degree from The George Washington University National Law Center.

Paul is a licensed attorney in Minnesota and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
