Richard J. Moura

Richard is an Of Counsel with Fogg & Powers and a registered patent attorney. Richard has practiced in the electrical, electronic and electromechanical technology areas, including mobile communications, satellite communications, computer hardware and software, semiconductor processing and circuits, optics, cable television, and signal encryption and decryption. Richard’s practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, legal opinions, and litigation support.

Prior to joining Fogg & Powers, Richard practiced law with the Dallas-based intellectual property group of Baker Botts L.L.P. and was a Shareholder of Jenkens and Gilchrist, P.C.  Prior to that, Richard was an intellectual property litigator with Banner, Birch, McKie and Beckett, a Washington, D.C. intellectual property boutique. Before he became an attorney, Richard was a supervisory electronics engineer with a U.S. government agency for 14 years, with responsibility for investigations of Department of Defense space communication programs.

Richard earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, with distinction, from the University of Rhode Island. He earned his law degree from the Washington College of Law at American University in Washington, D.C.

Richard is a licensed attorney in Texas and Rhode Island and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Richard is not licensed to practice in the state of Minnesota.

Richard is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the Texas, District of Columbia and Rhode Island State Bar Associations, and the academic honors societies of Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu.
