Riley S. Balling
Riley is an associate attorney at Fogg & Powers and registered patent attorney practicing in the areas of electrical and electronic technologies.Prior to joining Fogg & Powers, Riley was a software engineer for L-3 Communications-Communication Systems-West in Salt Lake City, Utah. While at L-3 communications, Riley worked with software version control, software design and implementation, and platform maintenance for communication systems in unmanned aerial vehicles. Additionally, during law school, Riley worked at the Utah area law firms of Holland & Hart, Advantedge Law Group, Kunzler, Needham, Massey & Thorpe, and Thorpe, North & Western practicing patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of software, computer hardware and mechanical devices.Riley received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University and his master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Utah, concentrating in Signal Processing. Riley received his law degree from Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School. At Brigham Young University, he was an associate editor for the Journal of Public Law. He is admitted to practice law in the state of Minnesota as well as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
